28 Feb Bridesmaid trends for 2018
Another year is coming to an end, giving us all an excuse to look forward to next year’s challenges- and next year’s nuptials. If 2018 is the year for your wedding, read on to discover our favourite new bridesmaid style trends that will make your big day extra special for you and your most cherished guests.
Sometimes it’s the simplest design that makes the biggest impression. While 2017 saw plenty of lace, frills and layering, bridesmaid dresses in 2018 will take on a more minimalist look with simple yet stunning cuts, smooth and luxurious fabrics, and only a smattering of detail. Strong silhouettes make up for the lack of embellishment and also leave plenty of room for some eye catching accessories and colourful bouquets.
Just like brides are starting to turn to contemporary separates or even jumpsuits for their wedding outfits, the same will be true of bridesmaids in 2018. Whether it’s a top paired with coordinating floaty trousers or with a mid-length skirt, separates can be sophisticated, cool- and much easier to dance in! They’re also perfect if you want a more relaxed dress code at your wedding or if you’re planning on tying the knot outdoors somewhere balmy and warm.
Shades of green
Here at Onlyway Bridesmaids, green is one of our favourite shades for 2018. Calming and flattering on every skin tone, shades like fresh mint and earthy forest are elegant choices for any style of wedding. Green also goes perfectly with cream, whether it’s your bridesmaids’ accessories or your own beautiful wedding dress.
While dress fits and lengths may be simpler in 2018, that’s not to say that you can’t have fun with your necklines. Halters and off the shoulder styles will be the ideal necklines for summer as they allow you to stay cool and show off a little skin. For a winter wedding, we recommended a sweet heart or draped neckline with sleeves that will keep you warm while still being chic.
Wedding outfits don’t always have to be about soft pastel tones and feminine floral patterns. In 2018, add some glamour to your ensembles with a touch of metallic detailing. From glittering sequin bodices to subtle stitching in gold, silver or bronze along necklines and sleeves, shimmering metallic tones are here to stay. Fabrics in dove grey, stone or soft slate tones that look just like silver will also be popular choices, beautifully complimenting traditional shades of white, cream and ivory.
Our versatile and flattering dress at Onlyway effortlessly merges many of 2018’s upcoming bridesmaid style trends- plus we’ll be debuting it in several new colour tones and an exciting new design in the months to come.
